HUMAN SETTLEMENTS MMC HANDS OVER MORE THAN 100 TITLE DEEDS

The Member of the Mayoral Committee for Human Settlements in the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Anthea Leitch, marked a significant milestone with the handover of 139 title deeds at Tshepisong in Region C. “Thank you for joining us today for this small but immensely significant moment. We gather here in Tshepisong to celebrate the provision of dignified housing for our residents,” said Cllr Leitch.

The achievement was a result of a partnership between the Gauteng Provincial Government and the City of Johannesburg.

Of the 6,142 stands in Tshepisong, 5,505 had already been registered at the Deeds Office.

Title deeds lost in a fire at the Human Settlements office also needed to be reissued. About 637 title deeds are outstanding.

MMC Leitch highlighted the city’s ongoing commitment to Tshepisong residents. “Feasibility studies for future housing projects are underway, and we are excited about the prospect of further affordable housing options. Our aim is to create a better future for all residents.”

The upgrading of informal settlements at Ebumnandini is also underway.

“Owning a home is about stability, security, and a brighter future. Today’s title deeds handover is a celebration of the resilience and determination of the people of Tshepisong. It is a commitment to a better life for all and a demonstration of our dedication to creating communities where everyone has a place they can proudly call home,” said Cllr Leitch.
